For Children and Families

Family Consultation : $200/session (virtual and in–person)

Having a child who struggles in school can be difficult for the entire family. Kim brings an empathic heart and wealth of knowledge to each child and their family. Kim has worked as head of student support and as a learning specialist in multiple Washington, DC independent schools, working with hundreds of families and dozens of teachers across the Washington, DC metro region over the last 15 years.  As the parent of a dyslexic child herself, she has sat on both sides of the desk in trying to puzzle out what is making school difficult for her clients and how to better support each child to so they can thrive. Kim can help your family navigate the process of referral, evaluation, school placement, accommodations, and support strategies while keeping the child at the center of the conversation.

Academic Therapy: $170/session (virtual and in–person)

Structured literacy (Orton-Gillingham) therapy is the gold standard for the treatment of language–based learning disabilities, including dyslexia. The structured literacy approach, based on the extensive science of reading research, utilizes explicit and systematic instruction in both foundational (phonology and spelling) and more complex (comprehension and writing) skills to support a child’s literacy growth.

Academic and Executive Function–focused therapy: Each session is designed to support the individualized academic needs across domains for the student including organizational, time management, and productivity skills for clients from elementary school through college.

Structured Literacy Small Group Therapy – $130/session (price per student; max 3 students; in person only)

Not only does research demonstrate that small group tutoring can be as impactful as one-on-one support, it is more financially accessible and allows for clients to engage with similarly–leveled peers to practice their skills. Structured literacy (Orton-Gillingham) small group therapy utilizes the same instructional methods as one-on-one reading therapy in a small group setting of 2–3 students.

All sessions are 45 minutes and give access to a shared document with session notes, ongoing assessment data, goals, and ways to support at home.

Literacy and Language Processing Assessment – $1600

Are you curious about your child's reading development? Perhaps you have a family history of dyslexia, or an older child whose reading took off more quickly than a younger child. Perhaps your child's school mentioned concerns about reading acquisition. Sometimes it is helpful to take a closer look

A literacy and language processing assessment is a battery of tests that measures a person's ability to understand and use language in order to read and write, and provides insight into the following skills:

The results of the assessment can be used to identify areas of strength and weakness in your child’s literacy and underlying language skills in order to pinpoint the underlying causes of reading and writing challenges and the place to begin therapeutic structured literacy instruction.
